Military Outreach

Hello Parents and Students!

My name is Patricia Chandler and I am the Military Family Liaison for Ross Middle School.  My job is to provide a resource of information for all incoming families and to support the families and students that are currently enrolled.  I am happy to give school tours when needed and honest answers to any questions about the school that you may have.

I am a military wife and have four children in EPISD.  I work hard to provide a positive atmosphere for our students, along with an outlet for any students that may need extra support or guidance.

I sponsor the student-led club, JS2S.  JS2S was set-up to help all students have an easier transition to a new school.  As you know, middle school is a very hard age in general, transitioning to a new school during this time makes it even more difficult.  What JS2S does for our new students throughout the year:

  1. They show the new student around to all of their classes before they start their day.
  2. They designate a place to meet them at lunch so they do not have to sit alone; introducing them to many of their friends.
  3. Every new student is given a highlighted map that has their schedule marked by period.

What we do for new students that start on the first day/week of school:

I set-up tables at lunch that are held specifically for our new students that do not know anyone.  I engage them with interactive activities that allow them to get to know each other in a low stress environment.  I make it a point to search for those students that may be too shy to sit at our designated tables and communicate with them individually with the hope that they will either move to the designated seating areas or want to interact with someone else that is shy or outgoing, whichever type is needed, to make a connection.

I work from 7:30 AM until 4:00 PM.  I do not work during the summer.  I can be found in the office Monday thru Friday.

I am here to serve you and your children!  Please don’t hesitate to give me a call!  (915) 887-3060
