About Us

Ross Middle School has a very rich history and an extremely diverse population of students.  The school was built in 1959 under the name Ross Middle but was changed to Ross Junior High in the 1970s.  In 1986, Ross returned to being a middle school.  In the years since, Ross has been educating students who have chosen great careers.  Here are a few examples:

Estella Casas – KVIA News Anchor
Bill McAtee – CBS Sports Announcer
Colonel James J. Leech – Commander, William Beaumont Army Medical Center
Norma Chavez – Texas State Representative
Dr. Lorraine O’Donnell – EPISD Board Member

The student body is comprised of a cross section of society.  We serve both our local community and a large part of Ft. Bliss, including the Sergeant Major’s Academy on Biggs Army Airfield.  The military community is a wonderful asset to our school.  Our sponsoring unit (2-43 ADA) supplies volunteers for tutoring and many school activities.

Ross Middle School is a microcosm of the United States where all students have the opportunity to achieve success both academically and in extra-curricular activities.

Campus Goals

  1. Improve student and academic achievement.

  • Implement a five-year plan that addresses reading, language arts, math, and science initiatives (incorporating the TEKS and SCANS) and fine arts.

  • Improve TAAS/TAKS scores at each campus by five percent per year.

  1. Develop a parental engagement plan that improves student performance and the quality of the school community.

  • Prepare all teachers, administrators, and staff to actively involve all parents in campus educational planning processes.

  • Create campus-based education and literacy initiatives that prepare parents to be the students' primary teachers.

Parent-Teacher Association

Excellent schools are created through the dedication of the Superintendent, Principal, teachers, parents, and community members who are passionate about student success.  PTA has over 23,000 local units in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Department of Defense schools throughout Europe and the Pacific.  Come with your child to our next meeting.  Being a part of PTA involves both your head and your heart.
